Newsletter
June - July 2008
Welcome to the second Ministry of the Single-hearted newsletter. It was our intention to have monthly update going out. But as we all know, life seems to move faster than we would like. So here we are with a bi-monthly update. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep the many of you who have been supporting this ministry in one way or another up to date on our progress. If you have supported this ministry, whether by volunteering, prayer, or financially, you are a part of our ministry family. It is our hope that the information passed on through this endeavor will be an encouragement for you all to see what you have been a part of.

Ministry Spotlight
Ave Maria Store
I have known Sal Lamantia since he was in High School. He is a young adult totally on fire for God. his mother Ava and father John own the Ave Maria Store in Morrisville, PA on Trenton Ave. This is not your ordinary store because the family that owns and works the store does not see it as a business so much as a ministry. It is their avenue to evangelize. The fact that they have amazing religious articles for purchase, free coffee and a great couch just to sit down and read at are only part of it. They host a rosary group at the store and use the store to praise God at all times. If you go into this store for something material you usually walk out with a lot more spiritually. It is amazing for me to see people that I have had the opportunity to minister to as Youth become amazing adults who put their faith into practice. If at all possible whether online, over the phone, or by stopping in I want to encourage you to use this store.(back)

Chapel Roof and Floor Replacement

We will be ripping the old tin off the chapel roof as well as ripping up the old chapel floor and replacing both on the weekend of August 15-17.  For those who would like to volunteer to help let us know. Of course you would be our guest for the weekend if you would like to come the whole time. Any time you could give would be most helpful.
We are also asking for donations to help pay for this project. The total cost is going to be app. $6000. It has to be done in August because we have groups coming in the fall for Retreats. (back)
Samson was our pup for almost 14 years. He died in early June and was laid to rest by our statue of St. Francis. I remember the first day he jumped in my car as we picked him up from the SPCA. We will mis him.

Summer Season
Right now we are in the summer season". As you can see from the schedule, this is a light time of the year for us, although we do have a few events going on. It is mainly a time for family, organization, gardening, and working on the Retreat Center. Please pray for God's sustaining grace for us to meet all of our financial obligations throughout the summer. We would like to thank all who have donated generously as well as sent in deposits for scheduled events to help support this ministry through the summer.      (back)

Berry Season
Every morning since the end of May has been a blessing. We started with a few weeks of fresh strawberries, then cherries from the tree, and now black berries and raspberries. It is an amazing experience to allow God to provide in His way while enjoying the literal fruits of your labor.  (back)

Video Ministry Project
There are new Music Videos with two original songs inspired by the Holy Spirit in our video library or at GodTube.com. ("Rescue Me" and "The walls of Jericho" along with the "Whiner Rap") You can help support this ministry by rating our videos on Godtube.com. The more views and ratings we get, determines how prominent our videos will be displayed. This is an awesome and FREE way to get the word out across the internet about our ministry. It costs absolutely nothing to create a user name and password on Godtube.com. Prayerfully consider doing this. (back)

Hello and God Bless from Kate: The "First Lady" of the Ministry of the Single-hearted   The First Lady of the Mininstry of the Single-hearted  I hope everyone is doing well this summer and wearing their sunscreen! If you ask John Paul (J.P.) and the kids, I am obsessed with sunscreen to the point I spray Jacob’s buzzed head!
I felt the need to share some of my struggles and blessings of living with someone who serves the Church. I know that many reading this volunteer for many things both on a parish level and beyond; and sometimes your loved ones can have a hard time. I know that for a while I would not like to admit it but I was jealous and a little resentful when I would hear about the amazing retreats or times of prayer John Paul was able to be a part of. I guess I wanted to be able to be there and I forgot that my role at home as a mother and a wife was only making John Paul even more of a conduit to share God’s love with others. I lost sight of the fact that I was being used in God’s plan and my piece of the puzzle was just as important in leading people to Christ.
I have also struggled with worry about how financially uncertain being in ministry can be. I feel shame because I know God provides but sometimes when it gets very tight I think it would be better if he had a “regular job.” I am quickly amazed at how when the need is great, God’s love expands to cover us.
My advice for anyone who is blessed to have a loved one who feels led to serve God is to pray for the ability to embrace your own personal vocation and to realize that you are part of the puzzle and with out you the picture of God’s love would not be complete.
Next Time: Prayer using “visual post-it notes” and also some cool recipes.
P.S.: If you are able to please pray about helping our ministry with any donations you can because summer is proving to be very hard for us. You will be with our ministry in prayer when John Paul is at the World Youth Day Celebration at National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Thank You!
Love & God Bless, Kate
