Samson was our pup for almost 14 years. He died in early June and was laid to rest by our statue of St. Francis. I remember the first day he jumped in my car as we picked him up from the SPCA. We will mis him.
Every morning since the end of May has been a blessing. We started with a few weeks of fresh strawberries, then cherries from the tree, and now black berries and raspberries. It is an amazing experience to allow God to provide in His way while enjoying the literal fruits of your labor. (back)Special Thanks
We would like to say thank you to, not only those who have been financially generous in supporting this ministry, but also to those who have given of their time to volunteer in many ways.
People like:
a walkway, and a trellis for our grape vine. Thank you three for your time and hard work. Hey, readly for the roof?
Hello and God Bless from Kate: The "First Lady" of the Ministry of the Single-hearted
I hope everyone is doing well this summer and wearing their sunscreen! If you ask John Paul (J.P.) and the kids, I am obsessed with sunscreen to the point I spray Jacob’s buzzed head!
I felt the need to share some of my struggles and blessings of living with someone who serves the Church. I know that many reading this volunteer for many things both on a parish level and beyond; and sometimes your loved ones can have a hard time. I know that for a while I would not like to admit it but I was jealous and a little resentful when I would hear about the amazing retreats or times of prayer John Paul was able to be a part of. I guess I wanted to be able to be there and I forgot that my role at home as a mother and a wife was only making John Paul even more of a conduit to share God’s love with others. I lost sight of the fact that I was being used in God’s plan and my piece of the puzzle was just as important in leading people to Christ.
I have also struggled with worry about how financially uncertain being in ministry can be. I feel shame because I know God provides but sometimes when it gets very tight I think it would be better if he had a “regular job.” I am quickly amazed at how when the need is great, God’s love expands to cover us.
My advice for anyone who is blessed to have a loved one who feels led to serve God is to pray for the ability to embrace your own personal vocation and to realize that you are part of the puzzle and with out you the picture of God’s love would not be complete.
Next Time: Prayer using “visual post-it notes” and also some cool recipes.
P.S.: If you are able to please pray about helping our ministry with any donations you can because summer is proving to be very hard for us. You will be with our ministry in prayer when John Paul is at the World Youth Day Celebration at National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Thank You!
Love & God Bless, Kate
